Recordwell Review: A Name Check for Adult Dating, Before You Meet, Host or Pay
Recordwell is a 2026 US people-search service that reports what public records say about a name, with namesakes separated and court, licence and business checks included. It cannot see stolen photos, which rules out the most common adult-dating scam, but it is the right tool for the most expensive one. Price, limits and how to use it.

Table of contents
Adult dating has a verification problem that mainstream apps mostly do not: a large share of profiles are built to extract money, not to meet, and the people behind them are good at it. We have covered how to spot fake adult dating profiles and how to verify one without oversharing. Recordwell is a 2026 US people-search service that sits one step beyond those free checks: give it a name, and it tells you what public records in the United States say about the person, kept separate from everyone else with that name.
This review covers what Recordwell checks, what it refuses to, the price, and the specific situations in adult dating where it is worth paying for. It is based on Recordwell's documentation, pricing and terms; we did not buy a paid report.
What Recordwell is
A people-search service for personal research, run by GRUNDLAGEN TECHNOLOGIE LTD, a Cyprus-registered company (HE 434416) in Limassol. It is explicitly not a background-check service and not a Consumer Reporting Agency: you cannot use it to screen employees or tenants. Checking the person you are about to meet is the personal use it is built for.
Coverage is United States-focused. Recordwell does not claim to cover other countries. A match in Toronto or Manchester will likely produce a thin report, and that is the first thing to know before you pay.
The service is new. Independent reviews are scarce, one scanner gives the domain a middling trust score purely because of its age, and support is by email only. None of that is disqualifying, but it is context for a card payment.
What you can search, and what you cannot
Input is a first and last name, an @username, or a link to a public profile. That is all.
- No phone lookup. You cannot find out who a number belongs to.
- No email lookup for other people.
- No photo search. Recordwell does not do facial recognition or image matching, and says so. Stolen photos, the standard fake-profile move, are invisible to it. Reverse-image search is free and should come first.
Reports also never include phone numbers or email addresses. That is a deliberate limit, and in a category where people-search sites are used to track people down, it is the right one.
What a report contains
Ten check categories run against the name: court and legal records, watchlists and sanctions, professional discipline, news and media, web and social profiles, biographical records, professional records, property records, business and government filings, and public profiles and works. Each reports found, checked and clear, unavailable or not run, so a blank section means "the sources that answered had nothing", and the report tells you when a source did not answer at all.
Namesakes stay separate. Records are merged into one identity only when independent details agree; everything else sits in a "possible matches" list with a confidence label (Linked, Possible, Clear) that describes the match, not the person. There is no character score and no risk rating.
Where it helps in adult dating
Be precise about the use case, because Recordwell is not a fake-profile detector. In its own words, it cannot establish a person's motive and cannot confirm who controls a dating account.
Where it earns its money:
- Sugar and arrangement dating. The person claiming to be a surgeon, a founder or a property investor has a name, and those claims leave public traces: professional licences, business filings, property references. A "founder" with no company filing anywhere is a question worth asking before the first dinner. Our sugar dating safety guide covers the rest of that conversation.
- Meeting someone from a niche site in person. Before you give out an address, travel, or host, a name check that confirms the age, city and story is cheap insurance.
- Court and watchlist records. This is the category mainstream dating safety advice avoids mentioning and the one adult daters ask about most. Recordwell reports what public court records under that name show, with the namesake separation, and tells you when the check could not run.
- The story mismatch. A 34-year-old in Austin whose only public footprint is a 58-year-old in Ohio, and nothing in Texas, is exactly what the tool surfaces. It will not say the profile is fake. It will say nothing public supports it.
Where it does not help:
- Fake profiles built on stolen photos, by far the most common scam on adult sites. Name search cannot see photos.
- Pay-to-chat and premium-message schemes. The tell is the request for money, not the name. Our adult dating scams 2026 piece covers those patterns.
- Anyone outside the US.
Pricing
Previews are free, which lets you see whether a plausible match exists before paying. Full reports, including one on yourself, need a plan.
| Plan | Per month | Reports | Per report |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $39.95 | 6 | $6.66 |
| Plus | $49.99 | 15 | $3.33 |
| Pro | $89.99 | 24 | $3.75 |
All plans include monitoring of up to 25 saved reports (email on change), PDF export, history and priority processing. Plans renew monthly; unused reports expire at month end.
The money terms are the strongest part of the offer:
- Full refund within 30 days of any payment, no reason required, by email.
- Cancel in one click, immediately, with access until the paid period ends.
- No trial that converts by itself.
- Price changes need 30 days' notice and never hit a period already paid.
- Payments through Stripe; Recordwell does not hold your card.
For one check, buy Basic, run the report, cancel the same day: $39.95, refundable. If you are active on a couple of sites and meeting new people regularly, six reports a month is a realistic number.
Discretion for the searcher
The person you search is not notified. Reports live only in your account. Recordwell keeps your search terms and account details, uses your IP address to flag VPN and data-centre traffic for fraud prevention, and passes only anonymised step data (searched, checked out) to its affiliate partners, never names or terms. Billing is through Stripe, so the statement line is worth checking if discretion at home matters to you; Recordwell's own pages do not say what descriptor appears.
The flip side applies to you. Anyone can run a free preview on your name, and anyone can remove their own data for free without an account. If you use a real name on adult sites, run the preview on yourself first and submit the removal if you do not like what you see.
Pros and cons
Good
- Honest namesake separation and confidence labels, no character score.
- Reports when a check could not run rather than faking a clean result.
- Refuses the features that make people-search creepy: no phone lookup, no face matching, no contact details, no leaked data.
- 30-day full refund, one-click cancel, no self-converting trial.
- Free self-preview and free removal.
Less good
- US-only in practice.
- Name-only input, so stolen photos and burner numbers are out of scope.
- Subscription with monthly expiry; no single-report option.
- New service, Cyprus operator, email-only support.
- We could not test real report quality.
Verdict
Recordwell is a cautious, well-documented people-search tool that is upfront about what it cannot do, which puts it ahead of most of its category. For adult dating it is the wrong tool for the most common scam (stolen photos) and the right tool for the most expensive one (a persona with a fabricated job, business or history, especially in sugar and arrangement contexts). Run the free checks first, use Recordwell before you meet, host, travel or pay, and cancel when you are done. At a refundable $39.95 for a month of six reports it is priced for active daters rather than one-off curiosity, and for US-based meetings that is money well spent.

Can I search a phone number or a photo? No. Full name, @username or public profile link only, and no image matching.
Is there a single-report price? No. Basic is $39.95 a month for six reports. Cancel immediately and request a full refund within 30 days of any payment.
Does it cover people outside the US? Coverage is US-focused; Recordwell does not claim coverage elsewhere.
Does it show criminal records? It reports what public court and legal records under the name show, separated from namesakes, and tells you when the check could not run. It is not a background check and cannot be used for screening decisions.
